Women For Women

Ever woman has the power to transform her world. When women work together, we have the power to create a better world for all of us.
Yet when we use this power it’s often viewed as a threat. Silenced, ignored, and undervalued — we make up half the world and half its potential, and are still excluded from the decisions that affect us.

Conflict and war deepen this injustice. A woman who goes through a violent conflict lives through brutality, sexual violence, extreme poverty, and the death of loved ones. Her home and community are left fractured in its wake. And when the conflict is over, the world’s attention moves on, leaving women without basic resources like food and water in a community that puts her last.

Since 1993, Women for Women International has invested in the power of over 500,000 women who are forgotten — the women survivors of war and conflict — to learn the skills they need to rebuild their families and communities.

About our Classes
Ashtanga Yoga Led Class
Ashtanga led class means that the instructor leads the group through the sequence of postures, providing guidance and cues. The class will follow the traditional Ashtanga yoga half Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa).
Open Level means that the class is designed to accommodate a range of experience levels, from beginners to more advanced practitioners. The instructor would offer an introduction to the postures, modifications for beginners, and the pace for more advanced students to ensure that everyone can participate and benefit.
Traditionally, Ashtanga Yoga is taught with the vinyasa count in Sanskrit. In this class, the instructor will use English instead of Sanskrit for the counting and instructions, making it more accessible to those unfamiliar with the Sanskrit terms.
Vinyasa Yoga

Powerful Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic sequence of yoga poses synchronized with the breath, creating a flowing movement from one pose to another. Students move through a variety of poses that stretch and open the body, increasing mobility, strength, and range of motion, with options for modifications to suit different levels of experience. Like all form of yoga, Vinyasa emphasizes mindfulness and presence. Students will be encouraged to stay focused on the present moment, paying attention to sensations in the body and the rhythm of the breath.
Somatic Lab
Somatic Lab is a regular space for women to explore sensual and somatic practices to nurture our body, mind and spirit.

Yoga Sutra Chanting
Yoga Sutra Chanting is a singing meditation where you learn to chant the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali by heart.
Held on the first Friday of each month, this class will expand our breathing capacity for effortless singing, increase our awareness of hearing melodies, pronouncing Sanskrit words, and understanding rhythm, sensitize our system to other people's voices and the vibration of space, train our ability to stay focused for long periods of time, and learn to chant yoga sutras by heart.

This class is open to everyone. No previous experience is necessary. Drop-in is possible, but please be aware that we will be adding sutras from week to week.
